Consequences of Global Warming : A Rise in Temperature

Global warming_the rise in the temperature

Global Warming is the well-known term globally, the rise in the average temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and its oceans relative to the past records of Earth's climate system. The drastically rising temperature due to the rise in greenhouse gases causes the increase in average temperature of the Earth. The temperature of land and oceans are ticking up than the record-keeping began in 1880.

We’re facing the greatest natural challenge; the human has ever seen. Over the past century, we altered the balance of our only planet. We’ve burnt a huge sum of fossil fuels, a huge sum of methane, cut down infinite number of trees and plants which were the natural air purifier (absorbs carbon dioxide from the air), Industrial pollution, the rise in number of the automobiles. The rising temperature has been a cause in decreasing number of plants and animals. Many species have already gone extinct due to the global warming effects and it’s alarming to all the 8.7 million species. All species have a range of temperature inside which they can sustain and be alive, and outside of which they get extinct. The rise in a few degrees will affect a great migration of species to move poleward to remain in a comfortable temperature zone as temperatures rises globally.

The effects of global warming can be felt to be more substantial and more rapidly occurring. It is concluded by the researchers and scientists that the average temperature has risen between 0.4 and 0.8 °C over the past 100 years. The rise in volumes of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere released by the human activities like the burning of fossil fuels, land clearing, agriculture, and many other activities, are the sources of the global warming. Scientists also claimed that average global temperatures could increase between 1.4 and 5.8 °C by the year 2100.

As per the Paris Agreement - COP24 held in Katowice, Poland on December 2-14, 2018, provided enough information to step ahead and work together to control the rise in average temperature.

Effects of Global Warming

Global warming causes a rise in sea levels due to the melting of the polar ice caps, as well as an increase in natural events resulting in huge loss to the common public and states. It’s a high priority situation because of it the climate is changing faster than some living things may be able to adapt for a long run and has disturbed the balanced ecosystem. Defining "greenhouse effect"- The Earth's atmosphere absorbs the heat of the radiation from the sun. These gases let the light in and out, however, keeping the heat from escaping from the earth atmosphere and surface, “greenhouse” gases absorb a number of this radiation heating up the gases and act as a hot blanket in the atmosphere, this is a point where all the problems start rising. Due to the excess of greenhouse gases, excess amount of absorption of radiation happens thus storing more amount of heat. This atmospheric phenomenon is what keeps the Earth's climate habitable. However, the imbalance within the atmosphere because of human action is incredibly frightful. The worst situation already has been noticed in California, the deadliest and most destructive wildfire season have been recorded in California. New Orleans, Miami and many more countries with the sea boundaries noticed the rise in Sea level while Chicago, Dubai saw the rise in the average temperature.
